Risk Aware Consulting

About

Hi, I’m Janelle Miller

About Me:  I served 22 years in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where I developed and led change management, organizational development and performance process improvement initiatives as a senior executive.  During my career, I led and managed teams through different crises on terrorism, kidnappings, hostage takings, and violent crime.  I directed multiple counterterrorism investigations where I continually assessed and mitigated thousands of potential threats to United States citizens and interests anywhere in the world.  As a certified crisis negotiator, I learned to deescalate situations, communicate effectively, and assess risk.  My vast experience in crisis management and crisis response led me to receive the Director’s award for Investigative Excellence, the Attorney General’s award for Distinguished Service, the National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation from the Hostage Support Team and Blooming Grove Service Award.  I was the lead FBI executive for the crisis management and counterterrorism committees for two National Special Security Events.

In the private sector, I was the lead security director for the National
Football League international series games in London and Mexico City where I implemented security best practices and proactively assessed potential threats to the games.  As the global security director at TIME, I built and implemented a security ecosystem, including threat assessments to journalists, crisis management plan, travel security, event security, and cybersecurity.

I am a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), ASIS International, Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE), and serve as a mentor for women in security. I presented at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) in 2022 and 2023, WIFLE Leadership Conference in 2022.

I have a Master’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University.
